In 1996, Gary Reis founded Med Tech Ambulance Service, which counts with more than 130 trucks and 400 employees in Rhode Island. A serial entrepreneur, Gary Reis subsequently founded Access Ambulance Service in 2007.
In July of 2007, Access Ambulance Service got its start with just two ambulances. Despite its small size, the company completed more than 3,000 transports in its first year. Located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the company has grown to include 49 ambulances serving both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In 2015, Access Ambulance Service completed more than 49,000 transports.
The company runs a dispatch center that features a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and a PBX phone system linking 100 phone lines together. The 24-hour, state-of-the-art center receives phone service from multiple carriers and two streets, ensuring callers will never be without service. The company dispatches ambulances to all hospitals in Rhode Island and forms part of the Critical Care Response Team at Landmark Medical Center.
